The M.A. FORD 18050002B is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It measures 1/2 inch in diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut, a 3 inch overall length, and a 0.015 inch corner radius. The 7-flute, super close pitch geometry is optimized for high material removal rates at light depths of cut, reducing surface roughness and extending tool life. The ALtima Blaze PVD coating improves heat resistance and wear performance, making this tool well suited to hard and abrasive workpiece materials. It accepts standard straight-cylindrical toolholders with a 1/2 inch shank diameter.
This end mill belongs to M.A. FORD Series 180 and is configured as a single-end, stub-length tool with a right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral. Its finishing classification makes it the appropriate choice for final-pass contouring, profiling, and pocket finishing on CNC machining centers where tight dimensional tolerances and smooth surface finish are required. The super close pitch and 38-degree medium helix angle help manage chip evacuation in the confined flute geometry typical of 7-flute designs. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or turret is locked out before handling or mounting the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge length and confirm runout with a dial indicator before first use. Avoid tightening collet nuts or set screws beyond toolholder manufacturer specifications, as over-clamping a carbide shank can cause fracture.
