The M.A. FORD 180100012B is a single-end corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. Built from solid carbide and coated with ALtima Blaze via PVD process, it delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The cutter features a 1 inch mill diameter, 7 flutes with a super close pitch configuration, and a 0.2500 inch corner radius, making it well suited for producing smooth, radiused floor-to-wall transitions with tight dimensional tolerances. The 38-degree medium helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity during finishing passes.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines with standard toolholders. Its stub-length flute geometry and straight cylindrical shank make it appropriate for applications where rigidity is critical and axial depth of cut is controlled. Primary material applications include carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - workpiece categories where the ALtima Blaze coating provides a meaningful performance advantage over uncoated or TiN-coated alternatives. The 1 inch shank diameter suits heavy-duty toolholding systems common in production environments.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces as specified by M.A. FORD for the Series 180 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with CNC milling setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or powered-down state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. This end mill is not centercutting - do not use for direct plunge entry into solid material.
