The M.A. FORD 17875018A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 3/4-inch cutting diameter, a 0.1250-inch corner radius, and five flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a 38-degree medium helix angle. The ALtima PVD coating extends tool life in high-wear applications. At 4 inches overall length with a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, this single-end, centercutting tool handles both roughing and finishing passes on the same setup. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers with compatible toolholders.
This end mill is suited for professional machining environments where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. The close-pitch, five-flute geometry supports higher feed rates in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials including superalloys and titanium. With a straight-cylindrical 3/4-inch shank, it seats directly in standard ER, shrink-fit, or Weldon-style toolholders. The Series 178 designation identifies it within M.A. FORD's line of high-performance corner radius tools designed for general-purpose and production machining on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Confirm toolholder bore tolerance is compatible with the shank diameter tolerance of +0.0000/-0.0004 inches before seating. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended runout and clamping torque specifications. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply external coolant or cutting fluid as required by the workpiece material.
