The M.A. FORD. 17875017A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 178 standards, it features a 3/4-inch diameter, a 0.09-inch corner radius, and five flutes with a close pitch and medium helix angle of 38 degrees. The cutting edges carry an ALTiN (AlTiN) PVD coating, which extends tool life when cutting abrasive and heat-generating materials. It is center-cutting and single-end, with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting geometry. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments rely on this geometry for both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The corner radius design reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge compared to a square end mill, improving edge life in interrupted cuts and shoulder milling. With a 1-1/2-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, it fits standard toolholders with a straight cylindrical 3/4-inch shank. It is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills where toolholder-mounted straight shank tooling is required.
Designed for use with standard straight cylindrical toolholders accepting a 3/4-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Ensure the shank is fully engaged to the minimum insertion depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer to prevent pullout under cutting load. Inspect the collet or end mill holder for runout before cutting, as excess runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute solid carbide tools.
