The M.A. FORD. 17875014A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 3/4 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius that blends the floor and wall of a pocket to reduce stress concentration and extend part life. With 5 flutes, a medium 38-degree helix, and a close pitch configuration, this tool balances chip evacuation with surface finish across both roughing and finishing passes. The AlTiN (ALtima PVD) coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance, making it well suited for dry or semi-dry cutting at elevated speeds.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines where a straight-cylindrical shank toolholder is used. It is centercutting and right-hand cutting with a right-hand spiral flute, allowing it to plunge and ramp into workpieces. The 1-1/2 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length provide reach for deeper pockets without excessive overhang. Primary target materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, making it a versatile choice for job shops and production environments running a range of ferrous and hard-metal workpieces. Series 178 designates the long-length corner radius family within the M.A. FORD. lineup.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium on CNC milling machines and machining centers. Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 178 long-length corner radius end mill family.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using a compatible toolholder torqued to machine and holder manufacturer specifications. Ensure the shank seating depth meets the toolholder minimum engagement requirement before tightening. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits prior to use, as excess runout accelerates wear on carbide tools. Do not exceed the tool diameter tolerance band of +0.0000 to -0.0030 inches when selecting toolholder bore size.
