The M.A. FORD. 17825024NA is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal-removal operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with close pitch and a 38-degree helix angle. The AlTiN (ALtima) PVD coating extends tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. With a 4 inch overall length and an extended-reach geometry, this end mill handles both roughing and finishing passes from a single tool, reducing changeovers in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with compatible straight-cylindrical toolholders. Its 3/4 inch length of cut, 2-1/8 inch reach length, and 0.24 inch neck diameter allow access to deeper pockets and shoulders while maintaining rigidity. The centercutting geometry supports direct plunge entry. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and superalloys and titanium (S). The Series 178N long-length configuration is suited to aerospace, die-mold, and general precision machining applications where reach and surface finish tolerance are critical.
Designed for use with straight-cylindrical toolholders in CNC machining centers and manual mills. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium as specified by M.A. FORD. Series 178N. Shank diameter tolerance is +0.0000/-0.0003 inches for precise toolholder fit.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before loading or unloading the end mill. Seat the 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank fully into a compatible toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, especially given the extended-reach geometry of this series.
