The M.A. FORD 17825022A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and 5 flutes configured in a right-hand spiral with a medium helix angle. The tool carries an ALtima AlTiN PVD coating that improves heat and wear resistance at the cutting edge. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 3/4 inch length of cut, this is a long-series single-end tool suited for close-pitch finishing and roughing passes. A licensed machinist or CNC tooling specialist installs this into a compatible straight-bore toolholder.
This end mill is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It fits Series 178 tooling setups and is intended for use in CNC milling machines where a corner radius profile is required to reduce stress concentration at part corners or to produce a blended fillet. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing material removal strategies, making it a versatile tool across job shop and production environments.
Designed for use with a straight-bore cylindrical toolholder. Compatible with machining applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium as designated by material codes P, M, K, and S. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 178 end mill family.
This tool is installed by a machinist or CNC setup technician into a compatible straight-cylindrical toolholder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is seated to the correct gauge length before tightening. Verify toolholder runout is within acceptable limits, as excess runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling and degrades corner radius geometry. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for retention hardware.
