The M.A. FORD 17819600A is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.1968-inch (5.00 mm) mill diameter with five flutes and a 0.5118-inch (13.00 mm) length of cut, making it well suited for finishing passes and tight-tolerance slotting where tool rigidity and surface finish matter. The ALtima finish coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during cutting. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard. A 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is appropriate for machining a broad spectrum of materials including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. It is used in CNC milling centers and manual knee mills for contouring, profiling, slotting, and side milling operations. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 6.00 mm (approximately 0.2362 inches) diameter fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders. The variable index geometry reduces harmonic chatter at the spindle, extending tool life in demanding cuts. Series 178 designation identifies it within M.A. FORD's extended-flute carbide end mill family.
Compatible with workpiece material categories H (hardened steels), K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), P (steel), and S (high-temperature alloys and titanium). Fits standard straight-bore collet chucks and end mill holders sized for a 6.00 mm shank diameter. Series 178 product family from M.A. FORD.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the spindle and machine are fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Confirm collet or holder bore diameter matches the 6.00 mm shank before tightening to prevent runout. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for recommended speeds and feeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
