The M.A. FORD 17812510A is a solid micrograin carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. It features a 0.125-inch diameter cutting end with five flutes and a 38-degree spiral helix angle, producing smooth chip evacuation and reduced chatter. The cutting edges are finished with a TiAlN coating to extend tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. With a 0.375-inch length of cut and a 1.5-inch overall length, this end mill suits close-tolerance slotting, profiling, and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-and-die operators are the primary users for this style of end mill.
This end mill is built for use in modern CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where precision small-diameter cutting is required. The TiAlN coating and micrograin carbide substrate make it well-suited for hardened steels, stainless steels, titanium alloys, cast irons, and superalloys corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling with a 0.125-inch bore. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with right-hand flute direction and no chipbreaker geometry, making it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing operations in tight tolerances.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank via collet chuck, end mill holder, or shrink-fit tooling. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer for M.A. FORD Series 178 end mills.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout state. Ensure the collet or tool holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify runout at the tool tip after clamping; excessive runout on small-diameter carbide end mills accelerates breakage. Follow the machine tool builder and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
