The M.A. FORD 17810032NA is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 178N standards, it features a 1-inch mill diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 0.015-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge. The tool carries an ALTiN (ALtima) PVD coating, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life when cutting ferrous and high-hardness materials. With 5 flutes in a close-pitch spiral configuration and a medium helix angle, it supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer installs and qualifies this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium in production and job-shop CNC machining centers. The extended-reach design, with a 4-inch reach length and a 0.960-inch neck diameter, allows access to deep pockets and tall workpiece features without sacrificing rigidity. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard toolholders. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, enabling plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material classifications are P (Steel), M (Stainless Steel), K (Cast Iron), and S (Superalloys and Titanium) per ISO material codes.
Installation and tool qualification should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are fully de-energized and the spindle is locked before inserting or removing the tool. Verify shank runout and toolholder seating torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification before cutting. Do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate for the specific workpiece material to avoid tool deflection or premature edge wear.
