The M.A. FORD. 17810010A is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length with a straight cylindrical 1-inch shank. The 5-flute design paired with a 38-degree helical flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The ALtima finish coating adds wear resistance and thermal stability. The variable index flute spacing helps reduce chatter during aggressive cuts. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including materials classified under codes H, K, M, P, and S - covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC spindle setups. Series 178 tooling is designed for production environments where tool life and dimensional consistency are critical.
Compatible with workpiece materials coded H, K, M, P, and S, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys. Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill in M.A. FORD. Series 178.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Use a properly sized end mill holder or collet rated for a 1-inch shank diameter and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
