The M.A. FORD. 17762514A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal and finishing in demanding machining environments. With a 0.625-inch mill diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and four flutes in a variable-helix configuration, this tool reduces harmonics and chatter during aggressive cutting passes. The AlTiN (ALtima) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard and abrasive workpiece materials. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch length of cut, it suits a wide range of milling applications on CNC machining centers and manual mills using a standard straight-cylindrical toolholder interface.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — a material range covering most production and job-shop scenarios. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, giving machinists flexibility in toolpath strategy without a separate drilling operation. The short-length designation and 0.625-inch shank diameter support rigid setups that minimize deflection when profiling, pocketing, or contouring workpieces that require a controlled edge radius rather than a sharp corner. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool, reducing changeover time.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines running right-hand spindle rotation. Intended for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium per Series 177 material application ratings.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with end mill toolholder torque requirements and runout verification procedures. Confirm the toolholder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to maintain concentricity. Always verify spindle direction and programmed feed and speed parameters before engaging the workpiece. Do not exceed the rated length of cut when taking full-depth passes, as extended engagement beyond the 1.25-inch flute length can damage the tool and workpiece.
