The M.A. FORD 17750024AW is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. Built to Series 177 standards, this single-end tool features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life. The AlTiN (ALtima) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness for dry or semi-dry cutting environments. With 4 flutes, a variable helix, and a right-hand spiral flute geometry, this end mill balances material removal rate with surface finish across roughing and finishing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers install this tool in standard toolholders with a Weldon flat shank for positive engagement.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium - ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes in production and job-shop environments. The center-cutting design allows plunge entry, and the Weldon flat shank seats securely in side-lock toolholders commonly used on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The 3 inch overall length and regular-length flute geometry make it a practical choice for general-purpose pocket milling, contouring, and profiling in aerospace, die-mold, and general machining applications.
Designed for use with standard side-lock and Weldon-flat toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter. Compatible with CNC vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, and manual knee mills configured for right-hand cutting. Intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tool from the toolholder. Ensure the Weldon flat is fully aligned with the set screw before torquing to prevent radial runout. Verify shank diameter tolerance fit within the toolholder bore before first use; shank diameter tolerance on this tool is plus 0.0000 inches and minus 0.0004 inches.
