Product Description

The M.A. FORD. 17750004A is a single-end, centercutting corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide with an ALtima PVD coating, it measures 0.5000 inches in diameter with a 0.0300-inch corner radius and a 0.5000-inch length of cut. The variable helix design, with flute angles at 35 and 38 degrees, reduces harmonic vibration and improves surface finish across both roughing and finishing operations. With a 2.5-inch overall length and a 0.5000-inch straight-cylindrical shank, it fits standard toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills alike. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this tooling.

This end mill is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It is suited for both roughing and finishing passes in short-reach applications where rigidity is critical. The Series 177 designation identifies it within M.A. FORD.'s corner radius product family, optimized for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction. It is intended for use in toolholders and does not support coolant-through delivery.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and wear resistance in hard and abrasive materials
  • ALtima PVD coating improves heat resistance and tool life in steel, stainless steel, and superalloys
  • Variable helix flutes at 35 and 38 degrees reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation
  • 0.0300-inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life
  • Centercutting design allows plunge milling as well as peripheral and slot cutting
  • Short flute length of 0.5000 inches maximizes rigidity in tight-tolerance applications

Compatibility

Compatible with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Intended for use with toolholders as specified by the manufacturer.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout after installation using a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines for tool clamping torque and RPM limits appropriate to the workpiece material.
