The M.A. FORD 17740600A is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. With a 0.4062-inch cutting diameter, a 0.9375-inch length of cut, and a 0.4375-inch straight-cylindrical shank, this tool is built for rigidity and precision in CNC milling operations. The micrograin carbide construction paired with an ALtima coating delivers extended tool life and heat resistance at elevated cutting speeds. The variable helix design at 35 to 38 degrees reduces chatter and harmonics, while the variable index geometry improves surface finish. This is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute, centercutting end mill suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge operations.
This end mill is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S - covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. It is part of M.A. FORD Series 177, a line designed for variable helix and variable index geometry in production machining environments. With an overall length of 2.75 inches, it fits standard tool holders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers handling precision metalworking work.
Designed for use with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by M.A. FORD Series 177. Fits standard 7/16-inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling in CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock is engaged before installing or removing the end mill. Verify holder bore and shank diameter compatibility before seating the tool, and torque the holder to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before use.
