The M.A. FORD 17737500A is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It carries a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. The ALtima finish coating and variable helix geometry reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation during demanding cuts. Built from micrograin carbide stock, this tool is center-cutting and suitable for plunge entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter, making it compatible with standard collet and end mill holders. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration.
This end mill is well suited for milling hard-to-machine materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and high-temp alloys - corresponding to workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The regular-length geometry and helical flute design make it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. It ships as a single unit and is intended for use by machinists, toolroom technicians, and production floor operators working in job shop or production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production end mill for use in standard 3/8 inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC and manual milling machines. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S as specified by M.A. FORD Series 177.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as damaged carbide can fracture unpredictably under load.
