The M.A. FORD 17725000AW is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 0.25-inch cutting diameter, a 0.25-inch length of cut, and a 2-inch overall length with a 4-flute configuration. The ALtima coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during high-speed cutting. A variable helix angle of 35/38 degrees reduces chatter and improves surface finish across a range of workpiece materials. The Weldon Flat shank provides positive retention in the tool holder. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working with milling machines in job shop, production, and aerospace environments.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on a range of material types, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and superalloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The stub length profile and 0.25-inch shank diameter make it appropriate for applications requiring rigidity in tight-clearance setups. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute geometry, and centercutting capability support slotting, profiling, and plunge operations. It is a single-end tool in the M.A. FORD Series 177W.
Designed for use with Weldon Flat-style tool holders accepting a 0.25-inch shank diameter. Compatible workpiece materials include hardened steels (H), cast irons (K), stainless steels (M), carbon and alloy steels (P), and superalloys (S) as designated by M.A. FORD Series 177W material codes.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with milling tool setup and speeds-and-feeds selection. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the Weldon Flat shank securely in the tool holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for appropriate spindle speeds, feed rates, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material.
