The M.A. FORD. 17723608A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 6 mm cutting diameter with a 0.25 mm corner radius, four flutes, and a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish. The 13 mm length of cut and short-length classification make it well suited for rigidity-critical applications. An ALTiN (ALtima) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting abrasive and hard materials. This end mill is centercutting, right-hand cutting, and designed for use in standard straight-cylindrical toolholders.
The 17723608A is designed for roughing and finishing operations across a range of difficult workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Its short-length, variable-helix design is particularly effective in CNC machining centers where tool rigidity and surface finish are equally important. The 6 mm shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing direct mounting in collet chucks and shrink-fit holders sized for 6 mm shanks. It is a single-end tool in the M.A. FORD. Series 177 lineup.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 6 mm shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, S). Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 177 high-performance end mill lineup.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the specified gauge line and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
