The M.A. FORD 17723601A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 177 standards, it features a 6 mm cutting diameter with a 0.5 mm corner radius, 13 mm length of cut, and a 57 mm overall length with a matching 6 mm straight cylindrical shank. The variable helix geometry reduces chatter and harmonics during both roughing and finishing passes. An ALTiN (ALtima) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in abrasive materials. The centercutting, single-end design allows plunge entry and versatile path strategies across a range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — materials classified under ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines with compatible toolholders. The short flute length and rigid carbide substrate make it well-suited for applications requiring tight tolerances and consistent surface finish in both roughing and finishing operations. Typical applications include slot milling, contour milling, and profiling in aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking environments.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium per ISO material groups P, M, K, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank to the specified depth. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a production run. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
