The M.A. FORD. 17718710A is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining environments. With a 0.1875 inch (3/16 inch) cutting diameter and four helical flutes running at a variable 35/38 degree helix angle, this end mill delivers stable cutting performance and efficient chip evacuation. The ALtima coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal protection. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and features a variable index geometry that reduces harmonic vibration during milling operations. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments install this type of end mill for profiling, slotting, and finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for milling a range of workpiece materials identified by material codes H, K, M, P, and S, which correspond to hardened steels, cast irons, stainless and heat-resistant alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys. Its micrograin carbide substrate and ALtima coating make it a solid choice for applications that generate high cutting temperatures or require tight dimensional tolerances. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collets or end mill holders commonly found on vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines.

This end mill is installed and serviced by machinists or CNC operators. Before changing tooling, confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the collet or holder and tighten to the tool holder manufacturer torque specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating before use and discard the tool if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
