The M.A. FORD. 17715612A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. It measures 0.1562 inches in diameter with a 0.015-inch corner radius and a 7/16-inch length of cut, giving machinists a precise, chip-resistant edge profile suited for both roughing and finishing operations. The four-flute, single-end design features a variable helix ground between 35 and 38 degrees to reduce harmonics and improve surface finish. An ALTiN (ALtima) PVD coating adds thermal resistance and extends tool life in abrasive workpiece materials. Overall length is 2 inches with a 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight tolerances and corner integrity are critical. It is rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, making it a practical choice for aerospace, die-and-mold, and general precision machining shops. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. It mounts in standard toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 3/16-inch shank. Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Ensure the shank seating depth in the toolholder meets the toolholder manufacturer's minimum engagement specification. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before committing to a finishing pass, as excessive runout accelerates corner radius wear. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material being machined.
