The M.A. FORD. 17711800A is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding industrial and machining applications. With a 0.1181 inch (3.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.315 inch (8.00 mm) length of cut, this tool delivers tight-tolerance material removal in a compact profile. The variable helix design - with helix angles of 35 and 38 degrees - reduces harmonic vibration and chatter during cut, extending tool life and improving surface finish. The ALtima finish coating adds wear resistance and thermal stability. Four helical flutes with a variable index provide efficient chip evacuation. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and is built for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
The 17711800A is suited for milling a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys - corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The straight-cylindrical shank (6.00 mm diameter, 57.00 mm overall length) fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders commonly used on CNC machining centers and manual mills. It is well-matched to applications requiring small-diameter work such as slotting, profiling, and plunging in close-tolerance parts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production cutting tool in the M.A. FORD. Series 177 line. Compatible with standard 6.00 mm straight-shank collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Ensure the collet and holder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to achieve proper runout tolerances. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against the manufacturer's recommended cutting data for the target workpiece material before engaging the cut.
