The M.A. FORD. 16550000A is a single-end ball end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding material groups. Built from solid carbide and coated with AlTiN for heat and wear resistance, it carries a 0.5-inch mill diameter and a 0.25-inch nose radius for smooth ball-end profiling passes. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting at elevated feeds. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 0.625-inch length of cut, making it a compact stub-length tool suited for rigidity in tight setups. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this type of tool for contouring, slotting, and 3D profiling operations in production environments.
This end mill is rated for use across multiple primary workpiece material codes including H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as harder specialty alloys. The stub length format and solid carbide construction provide the stiffness needed for consistent finish passes in high-speed CNC machining centers. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and milling chuck toolholders common to vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S per M.A. FORD. Series 165 specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully into a properly sized collet or milling chuck and torque the toolholder to the machine manufacturer's specification before running. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use. Do not exceed the recommended axial and radial depth of cut for solid carbide ball end mills at this diameter without verifying machine rigidity and workholding stability.
