The M.A. FORD 16437500A is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built to Series 164 specifications, it features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut and a stub-length overall length of 2 inches. The two-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life during high-temperature cutting operations. The micrograin carbide substrate adds wear resistance and edge stability. This end mill is centercutting, allowing for direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for milling operations across a range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, titanium, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and similar precision machine tools where stub-length rigidity and tight diameter tolerances are required. The straight cylindrical shank accommodates standard end mill holders and collet chucks.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool for machining setups requiring a 3/8 inch diameter, 2-flute solid carbide square end mill with a straight cylindrical shank and standard collet or end mill holder. Compatible workpiece material codes per input: H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a fully powered-down and locked-out state. Ensure the straight cylindrical shank is properly seated and torqued in the holder per the machine manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when setting speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material.
