The M.A. FORD. 16428120 is a solid carbide, two-flute square end mill designed for precision material removal in light-duty to general-purpose machining applications. Built to Series 164 specifications, it features a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 5/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The micrograin carbide construction delivers rigidity and edge retention at elevated cutting speeds. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into workpiece material. This stub-length profile minimizes deflection in short-reach setups. Installed by machinists and toolroom operators in CNC mills and manual knee mills.

Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in standard straight-shank tool holders and collet chucks accepting a 5/16 inch shank diameter. Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S per the Series 164 material classification system.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Torque the collet nut or set screw to the tool holder specification — do not rely on hand-tight. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, especially in tight-tolerance applications.
