The M.A. FORD 16423430 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. It features a 15/64-inch (0.2344-inch) cutting diameter, a 1/2-inch length of cut, and a 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank with a 2-inch overall length. The micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance in demanding cutting operations. With two right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle and centercutting capability, this stub-length end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge operations. Installation and use are handled by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is built for use in milling machines and CNC machining centers where accurate material removal is required. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation during conventional and climb milling passes. It is well-suited for materials classified under workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, which broadly cover hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The stub length format adds rigidity, reducing deflection in tight-tolerance work.
Designed as a Series 164 square end mill compatible with standard 1/4-inch collets and tool holders on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Install this end mill in a properly sized 1/4-inch collet or end mill holder, ensuring the shank is fully seated and the holder is torqued to machine-tool manufacturer specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts to protect edge life. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine-tool operating procedures for RPM and feed rate selection.
