The M.A. FORD. 16420310 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of materials. Built on the Series 164 platform, it features a 13/64 inch (0.2031 inch) mill diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. The micrograin carbide construction delivers hardness and edge retention suited to demanding cuts. With a 30-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral fluting, it produces efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators rely on this stub-length geometry for rigidity in tight-reach applications where deflection must be minimized.
This end mill is configured as a centercutting, single-end tool, making it capable of plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. Its 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and end mill holders. The 2-flute design suits applications in a broad material range including ferrous metals, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous alloys, plastics, and high-temp alloys. It is delivered uncoated, which makes it well suited for use with cutting fluid in aluminum and other non-ferrous work where coating adhesion or built-up edge can be a concern.
Designed for use across primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering tool steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous alloys, long-chipping steels, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard 1/4 inch collets and end mill holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the tool holder collet is properly cleaned and within tolerance before securing the shank to the specified clamping torque for the holder type in use. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage prior to each use and do not exceed the rated length-of-cut range of 0.5000 to 0.6000 inches.
