The M.A. FORD. 16412500 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. Built to stub-length proportions, it features a 0.125-inch cutting diameter, a 0.25-inch length of cut, and a 1.5-inch overall length with a straight cylindrical 0.125-inch shank. The two-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity in tight-tolerance cuts. Micrograin carbide construction delivers wear resistance and edge retention in a wide range of workpiece materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, adding flexibility in slotting and profiling operations.
This end mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter, high-precision cuts are required. The uncoated micrograin carbide substrate performs across multiple material groups, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its stub-length configuration reduces deflection, making it well suited for close-tolerance slots, pockets, and contour operations where tool stiffness is critical. Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in M.A. FORD. Series 164, suitable for use in standard collet chucks and end-mill holders accepting a 0.125-inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end-mill holder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth and ensure runout is within tolerance before cutting. Verify spindle RPM and feed rate are set per the material and diameter before engaging the cut. Never exceed the tool's stated length of cut when side milling, as overreach significantly increases deflection and breakage risk with small-diameter carbide tooling.
