The M.A. FORD. 16409370 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers high rigidity and edge retention at small diameters. The mill measures 0.0938 inches (3/32 inch) in cutting diameter with a 0.1875-inch (3/16 inch) length of cut and a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Overall length is 1.5 inches. It features two right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle and is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry. This is a stub-length tool in the M.A. FORD. Series 164 line. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and run this tool in production and maintenance environments.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge milling in a range of workpiece materials. The primary workpiece material codes listed for this tool include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering material families such as hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, general steels, and high-temperature alloys. The stub-length geometry provides increased rigidity in tight-clearance setups and on small CNC mills and machining centers where deflection control at small diameters is critical. The uncoated micrograin carbide substrate is appropriate for dry or wet cutting depending on material and shop practice.

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or holder. Ensure the collet bore and shank are clean and free of chips before seating the tool. At this diameter, runout control is critical — use a quality collet or shrink-fit holder and verify runout with an indicator before cutting to avoid premature tool breakage.
