The M.A. FORD 16404500 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision machining in demanding shop environments. With a 0.045-inch cutting diameter and 2-flute spiral geometry, this stub-length tool delivers clean square shoulders and flat-bottom features in a wide range of workpiece materials. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining edge stability at small diameters. Center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled start hole. This end mill is handled by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, toolrooms, and production environments where tight tolerances on small-scale features are required.
This tool is suited for milling slots, pockets, and profiling operations at micro-to-small scale. The uncoated solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for use in aluminum, copper, cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collets and end mill holders sized for 0.125-inch shank diameter. Stub-length geometry provides added rigidity, reducing deflection during aggressive finishing or semi-finishing passes.
Designed for use with standard 0.125-inch straight collets and end mill holders. Rated for workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering high-temperature alloys, cast iron, stainless steel, steel, non-ferrous metals, and aluminum as defined by the M.A. FORD Series 164 classification.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators on milling machines and machining centers. Confirm spindle speed and feed rates against the manufacturers recommended cutting data for the workpiece material and diameter before running. Seat the shank fully into a clean, dry collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturers specification. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before use — at 0.045-inch diameter, edge chipping is not always visible to the naked eye.
