The M.A. FORD. 16404000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining applications. With a 0.04-inch cutting diameter and a 2-flute spiral configuration, this stub-length tool delivers clean, accurate cuts in a compact form factor. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry, combined with a 30-degree helix angle, promote efficient chip evacuation and stable tool engagement. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, or toolroom environments.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on a wide range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The stub length and small diameter make it particularly appropriate for fine-detail slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations where rigidity and minimal deflection are critical. It fits standard 1/8-inch collet or end mill holder setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with 1/8-inch collets or end mill holders. Suitable for workpiece materials classified under M.A. FORD. material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended gauge line depth to minimize runout and prevent tool pullout during operation. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before initiating a cut.
