The M.A. FORD 16400600 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-precision micro-milling applications. With a cutting diameter of 0.006 inches and a length of cut of 0.012 inches, this tool is built for fine detail work in tight geometries. The stub-length design provides rigidity to minimize deflection, and the 2-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. Center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece. The uncoated carbide construction suits a broad range of workpiece materials. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following machine tool safety procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tool from the collet or chuck. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating, as tool deflection at this diameter is especially sensitive to collet condition and clamping torque. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate parameters are appropriate for the material and diameter before initiating a cut.
