The M.A. FORD 16337500A is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding shop environments. Built to Series 163 specifications, it features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 5/8-inch length of cut, and a 2-inch overall length. The tool carries a TiAlN coating for heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. With a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, it promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This is a stub-length end mill, making it well suited to rigid setups where minimizing deflection is a priority. Installation and operation are handled by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job shop settings.
This end mill is intended for use across a broad range of workpiece materials. The M.A. FORD material code classification covers cast iron and hardened materials (H), non-ferrous metals (K), stainless steel (M), non-metals and plastics (N), steel (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The centercutting geometry allows plunge operations without pre-drilling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill fitting standard 3/8-inch collet chucks, ER collet systems, and shrink-fit toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is installed by machinists using a compatible 3/8-inch collet or toolholder; ensure the holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer recommendations for runout tolerances, as solid carbide tooling is sensitive to excessive runout. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Replace the tool when flank wear or corner chipping is detected to avoid workpiece damage.
