The M.A. FORD 16312500T is a square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC milling and machining operations. The tool features a 0.125 inch mill diameter, 0.25 inch length of cut, and 1.5 inch overall length in a stub-length configuration. Constructed from micrograin solid carbide with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers consistent edge retention and thermal resistance under demanding cutting conditions. The 30-degree helical flute geometry and four-flute design promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry into workpieces without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The Series 163 stub-length design minimizes deflection in tight-clearance setups, making it appropriate for mold work, die work, and close-tolerance machining on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Primary workpiece material codes listed by the manufacturer include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a range of cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, and heat-resistant alloys. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and hydraulic toolholders sized for 0.125 inch shank diameters.
Designed for use in standard 0.125 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding torque and runout specifications. Verify spindle and toolholder runout before mounting to avoid premature tool wear or breakage at this small diameter. Ensure the machine is in an E-stop or powered-off state when loading or unloading the tool. Follow the cutting data recommendations provided by M.A. FORD for feed rate, speed, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
