The M.A. FORD 138B37501 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. The 3-flute geometry with a 36-degree right-hand spiral helix delivers efficient chip evacuation and a smooth finish in slotting, profiling, and contouring operations. At 0.375 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut, this single-end tool suits finish passes and medium-depth pocket work where carbide rigidity and accurate ball-nose geometry are required. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments rely on this series for consistent dimensional performance.
The 138B37501 is suited for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills working with non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials designated under workpiece material code N. The 2.5-inch overall length and 3/8-inch shank diameter fit standard ER and end-mill holder tooling. The Series 138B regular-length configuration keeps deflection low in standard-depth applications where extended-reach tooling is not required.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch end-mill holders and ER collet chucks on CNC machining centers or manual knee mills. Intended for primary use on non-ferrous metals as specified by workpiece material code N in the Series 138B product line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque the collet nut or set screw to the holder specification before beginning cuts. Inspect the cutting edges and ball-nose radius for chips or wear before each use, as carbide is brittle and susceptible to damage from improper handling or interrupted cuts. Do not use this tool on ferrous materials or hardened steels without confirming compatibility with the manufacturer.
