The M.A. FORD 13878740R.079 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for both roughing and finishing operations on non-ferrous metals. It features a 20 mm cutting diameter and a 2 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in demanding applications. The 3-flute geometry paired with a medium, 36-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a strong core. The bright, uncoated surface is suited to non-ferrous workpiece materials where coating adhesion or heat are not primary concerns. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in job shops, aerospace, or production machining environments will find this tool suitable for milling aluminum, copper alloys, and similar materials.
This end mill is designed for use in conventional toolholders with a straight-cylindrical shank. It carries a 20 mm shank diameter and a 38 mm length of cut, with an overall length of 102 mm. The short-length geometry provides added rigidity, making it a practical choice for side milling, profiling, and slotting operations in non-ferrous metals where tight dimensional tolerances are required. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. The single-end design is standard for most CNC machining center applications.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 20 mm shank diameter. Intended for machining non-ferrous metals including aluminum and copper alloys. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 138 corner radius end mill line.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank, and torque retention screws or collet nuts to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on a 3-flute geometry. Disconnect machine power and engage the spindle lock before any manual tooling change.
