The M.A. FORD. 13850006 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. Built to Series 138 specifications, it features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 2.25 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 36-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. It is sold individually and intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with CNC mills and manual milling machines.
This end mill is well suited for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations in non-ferrous materials including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys. The extra-long length of cut classification (2.0 inches and above) makes it appropriate for applications requiring deeper reach without tool changes. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard collet and end mill holder systems. It is intended for single-end use and carries no coating, making it a straightforward choice for applications where uncoated carbide performs reliably.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tool for standard 1/2 inch collets and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills operating on non-ferrous workpiece materials. Primary workpiece material classification is Non-Ferrous Metal (code N).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing any cutting tool. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth per the holder manufacturer's guidelines. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter before initiating a cut.
