The M.A. FORD 13850005R.120 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-precision milling in non-ferrous metal applications. Built to Series 138 standards, it features a 1/2-inch diameter, a 0.12-inch corner radius, and a 2-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the carbide substrate exposed for optimal performance in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. Three right-hand spiral flutes with a medium helix angle evacuate chips efficiently while maintaining surface finish quality. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer will typically specify this tool for contouring, profiling, and pocket milling operations.
This end mill is intended for use in non-ferrous metal machining environments, including aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing shops. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry, giving programmers flexibility for direct-entry moves without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The straight cylindrical shank at 1/2-inch diameter seats directly into standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and hydraulic toolholders. With a 4-inch overall length and a 2-inch reach, it accommodates moderate-depth pockets and shoulders without requiring an extended-reach variant. The normal pitch and fixed helix angle make it predictable and straightforward to program across common CNC milling platforms.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch straight cylindrical shank. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials. Compatible with common CNC milling machine toolholder systems including collet chucks and hydraulic holders.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool carousel or spindle is locked out before changing tooling. Torque the toolholder retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications, not those of the end mill. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating to confirm concentricity before beginning a cut.
