The M.A. FORD 13850004 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in non-ferrous metal applications. With a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length, this tool fits standard 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. The 3-flute geometry combined with a 36-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The uncoated solid carbide construction provides rigidity and dimensional stability in demanding cutting environments. This is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional side milling. It is part of the M.A. FORD Series 138 long-reach end mill family.
This end mill is intended for machining non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration are standard for conventional CNC machining center spindles. The long series geometry makes it well suited for applications requiring extended reach into pockets, slots, or stepped features where a standard-length end mill cannot reach the full depth.
Designed for use with standard 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Primary workpiece material designation is non-ferrous metal (Material Code N), including aluminum, brass, and copper alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the minimum recommended gauge length before tightening. Verify spindle runout with a dial indicator before cutting — excessive runout accelerates flute wear on solid carbide tools. Confirm correct spindle direction (right-hand rotation) and programmed feed and speed parameters before engaging the cut.
