The M.A. FORD 13850003F is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length with a straight cylindrical 0.5-inch shank. The three-flute, helical design runs at a 36-degree helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A titanium diboride coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding non-ferrous operations. Manufactured from micrograin carbide, this end mill holds tight tolerances with a mill diameter spec of plus 0.000 to minus 0.0005 inches. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with right-hand flute and right-hand cut geometry.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. The Series 138 designation places it within M.A. FORD's established line of solid carbide end mills. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and contouring on CNC machining centers and manual mills where clean surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The center-cutting geometry allows for direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed for use in standard straight-bore end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a 0.5-inch cylindrical shank. Best suited for machining non-ferrous metals per the primary workpiece material designation in M.A. FORD Series 138.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or drawbar is properly released before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank to the minimum insertion depth recommended for the tool holder being used to prevent pullout under load. Verify runout after tooling is secured before initiating a cut.
