The M.A. FORD 13850003 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling operations in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. With a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length, this single-end tool fits standard 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holders. Three spiral flutes with a 36-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. Uncoated solid carbide construction delivers hardness and rigidity suited to close-tolerance work on aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous workpieces.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where non-ferrous metals are the primary workpiece material. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in production and job-shop environments. The right-hand cut with right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for most vertical and horizontal spindle setups. The Series 138 designation places this tool within M.A. FORD's standard square-end carbide line, making it a direct working choice for shops that stock that series.
Designed for use with standard 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holders. Mill diameter tolerance is plus 0.000 inches and minus 0.003 inches; shank diameter tolerance is h6. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 138 solid carbide square end mill line.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using a compatible tool holder and collet or end mill holder torqued per machine tool manufacturer specifications. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against tooling data for the specific workpiece material before cutting. Inspect the tool shank and holder bore for chips or contamination before seating. Never exceed the rated length of cut noted for this tool.
