The M.A. FORD. 13837513NR.015 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It carries a 3/8-inch diameter, a 0.015-inch corner radius, and three right-hand spiral flutes with a medium helix angle. The bright/uncoated finish suits aluminum, copper, brass, and similar soft or abrasive non-ferrous workpiece materials where coating adhesion is not required. At 6 inches overall length with a 3-1/8-inch reach, this is an extended-reach single-end tool capable of both roughing and finishing passes in one setup. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, or aerospace environments are the primary users.
This end mill fits standard toolholder applications where a straight cylindrical shank at 3/8 inch is required. The 5/8-inch length of cut and short-length flute classification make it well suited to shallow-to-moderate pocket milling, profiling, and contouring in non-ferrous workpieces. The extended reach of 3-1/8 inches gives access to features that shorter tools cannot reach without a toolholder extension. Series 138 from M.A. FORD. targets general-purpose non-ferrous milling where tight corner radius tolerances and consistent surface finish matter.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (material code N). Not recommended as a primary choice for ferrous or hardened materials.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully into a clean, undamaged toolholder collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout after clamping before initiating a cut, as excessive runout accelerates carbide chipping.
