The M.A. FORD 13812509N is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise material removal in light-duty and finish milling applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it features a 0.125-inch cutting diameter, a 0.1875-inch length of cut, and a 36-degree right-hand spiral helix that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated finish suits non-ferrous metal applications where coating interaction is a concern. With a 2-inch overall length and a straight cylindrical shank, this stub-length end mill fits standard tool holders used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is intended primarily for non-ferrous metal cutting, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. The stub-length format and 0.75-inch reach length provide rigidity in tight setups where tool deflection must be minimized. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. It is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where a 1/8-inch shank toolholder or collet is available. The 3-flute configuration balances chip clearance and surface finish, making it a practical choice for slotting and profiling passes on non-ferrous workpieces.
Designed as a direct-fit tool for 1/8-inch straight cylindrical collets and tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Primary workpiece material designation is non-ferrous metal (code N). Part of the M.A. FORD Series 138N stub-length end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Torque the collet nut or set screw according to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece, as excessive runout on a 0.125-inch diameter tool accelerates wear and increases breakage risk.
