The M.A. FORD. 13550002NR.030 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for both roughing and finishing operations on non-ferrous metals. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and 2 right-hand spiral flutes in a coarse pitch configuration. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. With a 5 inch overall length and extended reach geometry, this tool is well suited to setups requiring access to deeper features while maintaining rigidity. A licensed machinist or CNC operator handles installation and setup in a compatible toolholder.
This end mill is intended for use on non-ferrous metals, consistent with its N-grade material classification and micrograin carbide substrate. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece as well as perform peripheral and face cuts. The 5/8 inch length of cut and 3.125 inch reach length make it appropriate for pocketing, contouring, and slotting operations in CNC machining centers and manual mills where toolholder clearance allows.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter. Intended for non-ferrous metal machining applications per the manufacturer's Series 135 specification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the 1/2 inch straight shank in a compatible toolholder and verify runout before operation. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Do not exceed the toolholder's rated clamping torque range and confirm reach length suits the workpiece setup to avoid deflection.
