The M.A. FORD. 12243750 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 122 specifications, it features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) cutting diameter with a 1-3/4 inch length of cut and a 4 inch overall length, classifying it as an extra-long reach tool. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design runs at a 30-degree helix angle and is center-cutting, allowing both plunge and peripheral cutting operations. This uncoated carbide tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling a broad range of workpiece materials, covering several primary material categories including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless and heat-resistant alloys, long-chipping non-ferrous materials, steel, and superalloys as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The extra-long configuration makes it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, slot cutting, and contouring where standard-length tools cannot reach. A straight-cylindrical shank fits directly into standard collet chucks and end mill holders without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit cutting tool for setups requiring a 7/16 inch shank, Series 122 solid carbide square end mill. Compatible with standard straight-bore collet chucks, ER collet systems, and end mill holders accepting a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque retention hardware to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as carbide tools are sensitive to excess runout and can fracture under interrupted or mis-aligned cutting conditions.
