The M.A. FORD. 12218750 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of materials. Built on the Series 122 platform, it features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for applications requiring extended reach without sacrificing rigidity. With 4 spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding machining environments. This tool is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant alloys, and other machinable materials corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard collet chucks and end mill holders. The extra-long length of cut is particularly useful in deep-pocket milling, slotting, and profiling where a standard-length tool cannot reach the full feature depth. Machinists and toolroom operators working on CNC machining centers and manual mills will find this tool appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes at appropriate feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material.
Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Designed for use in standard collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and can cause premature tool failure on small-diameter carbide tools.
