The M.A. FORD. 12121870 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) mill diameter and a 5/8 inch length of cut, this tool removes material cleanly at the cutter end and along the flute length. It features a 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle and is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into workpieces. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for demanding cuts. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop, production, and toolroom settings.
The 12121870 is suited for milling operations on a range of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and steel (ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S). With a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank and a 2-1/2 inch overall length, it fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders commonly used on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. Its regular-length geometry keeps deflection low for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and contouring passes.
Designed as a Series 121 regular-length square end mill with a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with standard collet systems and end mill holders accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Before installing or removing the end mill, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out. Secure the shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and verify runout before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturers recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material being machined.
