The M.A. FORD. 12103120 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of materials. With a 0.0313 inch mill diameter and a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) length of cut, this is a miniature end mill built for tight-tolerance work in small features, slots, and profiles. The 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and tool holders common in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The 2-flute, spiral flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention required at this diameter. Centercutting capability allows plunge operations without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for machining small slots, pockets, and contours in materials across a broad workpiece spectrum, including steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the Primary Workpiece Material Codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a regular-length, single-end tool from the M.A. FORD. Series 121 line. Typical applications include precision die work, mold making, and small-part machining on CNC vertical machining centers or precision manual mills where fine detail and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed for use with standard 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical collet chucks and tool holders. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer, covering steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in an energy-isolated state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet to the recommended grip length to minimize runout, which is especially critical at this small diameter. Verify tool projection and runout with a dial indicator before cutting to protect the tool and workpiece.
