The M.A. FORD. 12101600 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding CNC and manual machining applications. With a mill diameter of 0.0160 inches (1/64 inch) and a 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration, this tool removes material cleanly at micro-scale cutting depths. The length of cut is 0.048 inches, making it well suited for shallow finishing passes and fine detail work. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1250 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 1.5000 inches. Solid carbide construction delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required when holding tight tolerances on difficult materials. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without pre-drilling.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and precision manual mills where small-diameter tooling is required. The Series 121 uncoated carbide design targets a broad range of workpiece material codes including hardened materials, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous alloys, steel, and high-temperature alloys. It is commonly installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on molds, mold inserts, medical components, aerospace detail parts, and fine-feature prototype work where tool diameter and runout tolerances are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling selection for machines accepting a 0.1250 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and precision collet systems used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and power isolated per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the collet or tool holder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank to prevent runout. At this diameter, tool projection and runout are critical — verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Micro-diameter carbide end mills are brittle and should not be used to pry, lever, or remove chips manually during operation.
