The M.A. FORD. 11162503 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. The tool features a 5/8-inch diameter, a 0.0300-inch corner radius, and four flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a 30-degree helix angle. The bright/uncoated micrograin carbide construction provides a sharp cutting edge and tight tolerances, with a mill diameter tolerance of +0.0000/-0.0030 inches. This is a single-end, centercutting design, making it capable of both plunge and peripheral cuts. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills fitted with standard cylindrical toolholders.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing operations across a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The 1-1/4-inch length of cut and 3-1/2-inch overall length make it a practical choice for medium-depth pocketing, profiling, and contouring work in both production and job-shop environments. The 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard ER or set-screw toolholders.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical toolholders. The 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with ER32, ER40, and equivalent set-screw style toolholding systems commonly used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per M.A. FORD. Series 111 material application codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the toolholder is torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification before operation. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a tight-tolerance tool of this diameter.
